This piece from Margery Amdur is made from cosmetic sponges and pigment, brilliant!!! I would be so tempted to push my hands into this squishy piece. I also love Margery’s resin pieces, similiar to reverse glass painting. The colors are collaged with found imagery creating a jumbled paint-by-numbers feel.

Photographer Fabian Oefner has recreated black holes, in a more colorful sense and without the whole ‘sucked into an oblivion’ thing. These images are quite breathtaking and the creative process is just as interesting. Check out the video below.

Artist: Maurizio Anzeri
February 21, 2013 by Erin Fletcher
From all the artists embellishing old photographs with thread, Maurizio Anzeri is my absolute favorite. I first saw his work at the Saatchi Gallery in London, where I took home a souvenir postcard of the piece above, which I rightfully hang in my bindery. Each portrait is wildly adorned with an elaborately detailed mask, carefully planned to convey a sense of geometry.

Artist: Chad Wys

Chad Wys has been created pieces for his Readymades series for a few years now; taking found decorative art objects and transforming them into a whole new conversation piece with quirky layers. These pieces are reminiscent of a scene in Tim Burton’s Batman, where the Joker and his henchmen put their own twist on the artwork.

The collage work of Bryan Olson are quite whimsical in a “predictions of the future from the mid-century” sort of way. My husband and I are just oohing and awing over each cosmic landscape, soaking in the retro color palette and stellar imagery.

Squishing colored epoxy within wooden moulds supported by shims and tree rings, artist Christian Maychack creates some exceptional pieces of art. These playful sculptures resemble vivid formica that would be quite welcome in my home, in fact I would be very pleased to have Christian’s work adorn my walls.

Equipped with tape, vinyl and contact paper artist Garry Noland creates these wonderfully colorful and textured pieces by including whatever happens to get stuck to the aforementioned materials. Noland presses tape to his studio floor picking up paint, old bits of tape and other floor debris embracing the unknown before collaging all of the elements together.

The collage work of Virginia Echeverria Whipple is awesome! Each piece feels like a still from a wild dream; confetti rain, spaces slowing collapsing inward, floating abstract shapes, cheetahs covered in fresco!
