Ebru (Turkish paper marbling)

September 26, 2012 by Erin Fletcher

Paper marbling holds a strong tradition in Turkey, dating back to the 17th century. Many techniques and utensils are implemented to manipulate the pigments into mesmerizing patterns and intricate floral designs. Photographer and filmmaker Oguz Uygur is the son Turkish marblers who practice the art of Ebru. In this video he captures the process by shooting above the marbling tank, giving the viewer an intimate look of a true artisan at work.
